Welcome Spring and New Products for my ETSY SHOP GlamSimpleBoutique

Image
Thanks for checking out my Etsy Shop! www/etsy.com/shop/GlamSimpleBoutique Spring always inspires me to start my "Big" plans...and trust me, I always have big plans!  In fact, I am KNOWN for it!  Anyone who knows me, has seen how I like to create and recreate to my heart's content.  Some of the current creations center around hearth and home.  And with the beautiful transformation of winter into Spring, I am inspired!  My kitchen witch and I have been reading up on our kitchen magic to see what we should do to usher in prosperity, goodwill and joy! A s you may know, I have started preparations for the summertime gardens.  The crocus and daffodils are coming up outside in the front yard and in the berry patch...the first signs of metamorphosis. Those changes usher with them the excitement of possibilities forming just under the soil. Will the blueberry bushes that we planted last year, come back to life?  Was it a fail?  I am not deterred either wa...

Lilacs CAN bloom in Winter

"I am living proof of what I say...what I recommend and what I value.  If the day ever comes when this is not true, I hope to no longer be at all." To some people, I may be nothing special.  But those are not my people. Today is Wednesday- actually, St. Patrick's Day!  Today I am taking stock of where I am in the process of creating products that I love that are handmade and that are practical.  My desire is to make items that we commonly buy at stores, and that we all use and need.  Perhaps not all of us will use them, but I am basically identifying items that we use that are heavily chemical laden when we purchase them in commercial environments.  I am discovering how to create some of these household items using quality ingredients.  As I make these discoveries, I am documenting and recording the process as well as investing in ways to market these products on my Etsy Shop.  Eventually, I hope to bring that same "store" experience to a physical...

Fairy Come Hither to my Gardens!

Image
"Calling all Fairies!  Vacancy here.  Come and bless my garden with bounty all year! I promise to leave you all kinds of treasures. XOXO" Lilac March 10, 2021 I have NEVER been more excited about getting my gardens started.  That is because last year was out 1ST Springtime here and we were all just learning about Covid and getting our worlds completely turned upside down.  But THIS YEAR...this year we welcome Spring (Ostara for us Witches) with open arms and lots of hope. Yesterday, when the weather hit 50*, it was incredibly windy.  This is quite common here due to our proximity to the ocean.  However, we were able to get some things done...mainly preparing soil beds and removing debris that has blown in and gotten stuck like leaves.  The garden areas are shaping up pretty well for this year's undertaking. Here, Alex and I used Zip-Ties to create a climbing space for vines that we will plant in a month from now. I filled this "soon-to-be" Fairy...

MONTHLY TAROT VIDEOS by The Lilac Broom

Image
Hello my fans and friends alike! This blog entry today will be about my videos that I make for YouTube.   “ Be  bold , be brave enough to be your true self.”  Queen Latifah From a very young age (an age of consciousness), any human will feel inadequate stepping in front of an audience.  I have experience in front of audiences of all sizes.  As a college student I often performed for large crowds as a singer, dancer and entertainer.  Later I became a very good orator.  I am a confident public speaker.  That skill translated to amazing success in Property Management for me.  Being able to command a room of angry people or to combat a group of "entitled" and angry people, and get two sides to merge....these are skills I easily drop on the bucket and say, "been there, done that- what's next?" Creating Videos and publishing them, videos where I channel a spiritual message or share my knowledge of the "Otherworld"- this is something altogeth...

Planning the Spring Garden, the Summer Garden and the Fall Garden 2021

Image
All Creation starts with our thoughts and becomes that which we behold. ~Lilac I know that if I want to make anything happen, I have to start by thinking about it. When it comes to planning anything around the Homestead, I like to draw it first. I am NO ARTIST...but what I can do is structural outlines. I like to consider things like light, water flow, the feel...the possibilities. As I started to plot the Spring Gardening projects, I realized that in order to properly plan for Spring....I also needed to think about what comes next.  This year, unlike other years, I have a house, and land and no daytime job.   If I cannot make something happen, then I have wasted my time! My thoughts started with the seedlings that are sprouting in the kitchen greenhouse.  What was I going to plant in the vegetable garden?  What about the Herb Garden?  What were the challenges last year and how did we overcome them?  What issues did we run into that we still do not h...

HIKING DAY revised this week

Image
F riday's are my day to write about our Thursday Hiking experience.  This week, my son and I worked in the Berry Patch and the Fairy Garden to get things ready for Spring.  Later, when Annika was home, we went for a walk/Bike Ride to the Soccer Complex.  At around 12:45pm, both Alex and I were excited to take a break and get outside.  It was his lunch break for "Long Period", so we bundled up and grabbed the dog and went for a walk around the property to check things out.  The Berry Patch and Fairy Garden looked Bleak to say the very least.  Many things were just piled up where they shouldn't be because my husband is very untidy when he works the yard.  If I want to avoid that happening in the future, I will need to be more attentive, stay active and prevent it.  Alex and I decided to fence off the Berry Patch Zone due to the fact that birds and bunnies ravished it last year.  My plants looked like barely twigs!  It was utterly discourag...

HOMESTEADING- What is it and why does anyone care?

Image
https://www.treehugger.com/definition-of-homesteading-3016761 "The Broad Definition of Homesteading Homesteading is a spectrum. Ultimately, the broadest definition is that it is a lifestyle with a commitment to self-sufficiency. This can encompass growing and preserving food;  providing your own electricity  with solar, wind or water; and even making your own fabric and clothing. Some homesteaders aspire never to use money; they want to make or barter for everything they need. Others may take a more measured approach, and although they aspire to provide as much as they can for themselves, they may be okay with using some money and working for pay—either as an end goal or during the  transition to homesteading . Urban and suburban homesteading is a subset of homesteading; people who live in the city or suburbs may still consider themselves homesteaders, and try to provide for their own needs within the confines of a small suburban house and yard or even a tiny city ...
