I have NEVER been more excited about getting my gardens started. That is because last year was out 1ST Springtime here and we were all just learning about Covid and getting our worlds completely turned upside down. But THIS YEAR...this year we welcome Spring (Ostara for us Witches) with open arms and lots of hope.
Yesterday, when the weather hit 50*, it was incredibly windy. This is quite common here due to our proximity to the ocean. However, we were able to get some things done...mainly preparing soil beds and removing debris that has blown in and gotten stuck like leaves. The garden areas are shaping up pretty well for this year's undertaking.
Here, Alex and I used Zip-Ties to create a climbing space for vines that we will plant in a month from now.
I love my colorful Flamingos. My husband supports the Flamingo habit- he also likes them. This adorable lighthouse was a HANDMADE gift from my Mother-in-Law. She is very extremely creative. I love how it looks beside my Herb Garden area. When everything is blooming, it will be a richly colorful point of interest in the front yard.
Everywhere you look in our yard, you will discover Handmade objects, secretly peeking at you. My husband joined us in creating original rock art. He made this for his Mom:
Stay Tuned for more on the gardening life! What are you growing?

Unfortunately we have taken our our gardening beds. We had four 5x12 beds at one point. Two were in an area that has become shaded by a tree on one side and a hedge infringing the other. Two got two much sun in our sandy soil and Texas heat even with copious watering. Gardening here tends to be challenging and often disappointing for vegetables. Herbs are made room for in the existing flower beds. I did often have success with cucumbers. Maybe I will try them somewhere else...
