My Products got a Photo Shoot!
SAY CHEESE!!!
They did amazingly well under pressure, and so did I!

Those of you closest to me will know how nervous I am about sharing something I made with the world. I started to use my hands instead of my other talents and it is intimidating. I'm sure others out there can relate to this feeling. You see, as a musician and a public speaker, I am not at all intimidated to command a room from a podium or from a stage. But to put my concentration and workmanship into creating a tangible object and then to sell or give that thing to others...well that is a whole different story. Give me a microphone any day of the week!
I opened my Etsy Boutique a few weeks ago and after receiving my first few orders, I started to consider the marketing. I asked my daughter, Annika Salgado (an amateur photographer) to take some pictures for marketing my Lotion Glace (bars). The photo shoot was very exciting. My dining room was transformed. There were canvasses, mirrors and lights everywhere. Below are the beautiful results. Enjoy!
ABOUT THE GLACE
A glace is just a fancy word that I love to use to describe my Hand and Body Lotion Bars. They are a solid bar, which looks like a bar of soap- but is not soap. It is a nourishing lotion. You just rub the bar to get the lotion on your hands. Then, let the oils soak in (as this is not a quick dry lotion). This usually takes 3-4 minutes. However, the Essential oils (including Vitamin E oil) and high quality ingredients (Shea Butter and Coconut Butter), are excellent for healing cuts, scrapes and especially for correcting cracked and dry/chapped hands. I would compare my Glace to the "Healing Hands Salve".
I make the bars to order. Shelf life is approximately 12 months because I do add the Vitamin E oil , which adds to it's potency for healing but also increases shelf life. The fragrance is a proprietary blend of delicate herbal essential oils and my goal was that it will be unique to my Glace bars, so that is all I can really tell you about the fragrance. The color is a Lilac (the signature color of the Lilac Broom). The shade will vary by bar order, some darker than others, because each batch is made fresh to order and the color just takes a little differently each time.
My first few orders will end up going out wrapped in just wax paper because foolishly I ordered the sampling sized containers. I am new at merchandising! But future items will come in a small round tin in which the product will fit somewhat snugly but not tightly, so that you can just pop the round bar out and into your hand to use it. Then it is stored in the tin. Due to the nature of the ingredients, it is important that the bars stay in a cool place...so be careful if you carry it on you and leave it in a hot car or in a handbag while out walking in a hot climate. It will become liquified or softened. If this happens, just place the container into your refrigerator and it will harden-up in an hour or so.
As you use your glace, it will lose shape and size until you have used it all. You can order a new one and it will come in a new tin- but keep in mind that tins like this are handy for other items like stashing hairpins or even as a pill case! Your $10 purchase helps me grow my business (my dream) and gives you an inexpensive, high quality alternative to store-bought, over-processed hand lotions with many extra ingredients that are actually harmful to your body and to the environment. Here is what my bars are made of:
Beeswax, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Essential oil fragrance, mica powder for colorant, Vitamin E for shelf life and health benefit.
I do NOT recommend this product for children under 3 years old, only because of the added fragrance. If anyone were to want one for someone extremely sensitive or under 3 years of age, I would be HAPPY to make it without color or fragrance. The cost will be the same but the scent of natural Shea Butter is wonderful all by itself!
Here were some of Annika's Practice shots for the photo session...they were test shots but I love her process. Enjoy them.
